It is part of the Table Mountain National park and is a lovely place to go walking. it is at the top of Ou Kaapse Weg (half way along, before it heads down to Noordhoek) and it is actually really nice there. All the paths go through a combination of fynbos and forest and are very well maintained (some of it is even wheelchair friendly). </div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"><br /></div><img style="text-align: center; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 320px; display: block; height: 240px;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5485333900276854210" alt="Slivermine Nature Reserve" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_66JkTp8fDVs/TB_SHqho7cI/AAAAAAAAADA/MD8WQwZyd80/s320/100_0814.JPG" border="0" /> <p align="center">(not this bit)<br /><br />we went on one of the minor walks that just goes from the entrance to the dam. (there are other, more hectic, walks that take you to the top of the mountain) It was a very pretty walk because it follows a river that flows out of the dam and there are lovely waterfalls and rock pools etc. the dam itself is also very pretty and is a popular picnic spot because it can be directly accessed by car.<br /></p><img style="text-align: center; margin: 0px auto 10px; width: 320px; display: block; height: 240px;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5485335454394121794" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_66JkTp8fDVs/TB_TiIEEfkI/AAAAAAAAADI/9NOTu2AuTVk/s320/100_0821.JPG" border="0" /> <p align="center">The boys climbing on the scenery at the dam</p><div align="center"><br />we thought we were organised because we brought the makings of tea and a few snacks to have when we got to the dam but we discovered the super organised people bring tables and chairs and braais with them and make a real day of it.<br /><br />The entrance fee was only R15 and I definitely think it was worth it.
